The Student Prayer
The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not flunk
He keepeth me from lying down when I should be studying
He gives me new strength
He leadeth me besides the water cooler for a study break
He restoreth my faith in study guides
He leads me to better study habits for my grades' sake
Yea, though I walk through the valley of borderline grades
I
will
not have a breakdown
For thou art with me
My prayers and my friends, they comfort me
Thou givest me answers in moments of blankness
Thou anointest my head with understanding
My test paper runneth over with questions I recognize
Surely passing grades and flying colors shall follow me
all the
days
of my examinations
And I shall not have to dwell in this school forever
===========
"Love is patient. Love is kind. It does not envy. It does not boast.
It is not proud. It is not rude.
It is not self-seeking. It is not easily angered.
It keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil.
But rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails..."
~ 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8
==========
I knelt to pray but not for long,
I had too much to do.
I had to hurry and get to work
For bills would soon be due.
So I knelt and said a hurried prayer,
And jumped up off my knees.
My Christian duty was now done.
My soul could rest at ease.
All day long I had no time
To spread a word of cheer.
No time to speak of Christ to friends,
They'd laugh at me I'd fear.
No time, no time, too much to do,
That was my constant cry,
No time to give to souls in need
But at last the time,
the time to die.
I went before the Lord, I came,
I stood with downcast eyes.
For in his hands God held a book;
It was the book of life.
God looked into his book and said,
"Your name I cannot find.
I once was going to write it down...
But never found the time."

God grants me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.
